probably a stupid question
Just wondering why atv's have single-cylinder engines and not two cylinders? What are the pros and cons of each.

Yeah I know that some are twins but, for example, the arctic cat 700 is a single cylinder engine.

any day of the year, i would rather have a single cylinder. the weight you save is a lot. some ultilities need the extra power you get from a twin to tow

Pretty much what everyone else said about weight. Plus, less moving parts= less wear/ breakage.
