When do trails open up?

Hey everyone..

This will be my first year riding and i was wondering when the trails open up here in NY? My friend told me that it is Dec. 15th but i heard a bunch of people on the forums say it is Dec. 1st?

Thanks for your response, I appreciate it.

The trails in NY oficially open after gun season closes. Which is Dec. 20. That is all public trails. private trails are open after it gets dark when there is enough snow.

Around here... it's after shotgun AND black powder season. December 26th, officially. But I'm sure some of those private, after-dark trails, will be open a lot earlier! Hey, RJ?

Vermont actually opens Monday Dec. 19th this year. They changed opening day until teh 3rd Monday of Dec to favor the hunters.

Hey Daktruckie, Do you ever ride October Mountain?

Trails in central NY open on Dec. 21. After shotgun closes. Anyone caught riding before that on public trails can be charged with trespassing....FYI
