Question Vermont State Parks

I live in NY and own property in VT. I heard that VT State Park land is public and you can snowmobile (and hunt) on it. I know of the VAST system and have used it alot and have my TMA, but there is a park closer to my VT house than the VAST trail access. I could cruse down the road without trailering my sled and access this park.

The question:

Can I sled on the State property, even if it's not a VAST marked trail?

You might want to call the state and ask them, or their local DNR.

Hello,
No...you may only ride on your own property, the property of someone you have personal permission from, or on a VAST, marked trail w/ a TMA and club membership.
Sorry for bursting your bubble....

Correct you are! Sometimes I hate the VT laws but the VAST system is so great I get over it real fast

Well thank you we do our best to keep it nice for snowmobilers to enjoy...lets hope we get a huge amount of snow this year! We have worked really hard over the last two years here in Cabot to make our trails some of the best in the state...and our TMA is the cheapest Statewide...so go to our website to buy yours today....and tell your friends. See you in CABOT!

I live in Vermont and I'll second Princess. Unless the park directly claims you can, you can't, vermont has hippies that are trying to restrict four-wheelers and snowmobilies as much as possible even thought its only the four-wheelers.

As far as VAST goes, I'm not a big fan, if you live in Vermont, go up into the northwest near tug hill but not AT tug hill. That riding is AMAZING. If you go up during the week or on a slow weekend you will be by yourself and the trails will be freshly groomed!
