Live in Jersey, but ride mostly Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. Usually Kennedy/SouthDayton/Randolph/Forestville area's. Cleve, I'd like to hook up this year and ride Letchworth Park. It's probably 1.25 hrs from Kennedy down Rt 39/436. I'll PM when the snow flies.
We're planning a 4-5 day trip to the hill as well. Stay in Lowville or Boonville. Hopefully it won't be as hammered as last year.

Just think, if we were just a few hours west of here we could have run the sleds up and down the streets a few times this morning before it went away!

Do you ever go into NH?
I bet sledding conditions are similar.

I've heard that NH doesn't have as good a system as VAST and VAST isn't as good as the systems I run in Upstate NY. when I ride I'm based in Louisville near Stillwater resiviour and we ride mainly around Old Forge, Tug Hill and Cranberry Lake. The system there is amazing. They have 5 Star restaruant in the middle of no where specifically for sledders. The best place is the Stillwater Resteraunt which has AMAZING food. Rack of Lamb, roast duck, its great!

Ditto ^^^
I've met too many folks from NH on the Tug Hill trails. They wouldn't be coming here if they had decent trails (and I wouldn't consider the Hill "decent" trails. Waaaaaaayyyyy too crowded!)

I agree, Tug Hill is way too crowded to even bother with. And I hope we get enough snow to ride from home too! Hate loading up the trailer....

Best sledding I've done in NY was in Warsaw area (two years ago). They had mint trails, great signing, and very little traffic. Trails weren't in the best of shape, but still not as hammered as on the Hill. I understand that south, towards Chautaugua, the trails are even better! Was going to go there last year, but we had no freakin' snow anywhere, except on the Hill!

Campbell NY near Corning/Elmira/Bath
We started riding at tug hill last year due to crappy snow down here in the Southern tier. I also liked it up in Letchworth State Park and Warsaw.

Hey Phaster, Letchworth looks like a really nice area, how many miles of trails are there? We are about 3 hrs away, might consider staying overnight, any recommendations? Is there a trail map available online for that area? Sick of questions yet?
Thanks!

There's 100's of miles of trails out that direction. Once you get on the Letchworth trails, you can ride all the way to PA.

Yea it would suck to have a house on tug hill. The people who ride up there are such *******s. I saw one building that had someone who literally rode over the building and destroyed the roof.
Warsaw is really nice.
Anyone riding near the Tupper lake/Beaver River Station area?

That ain't a half-bad idea! Now that I'm between jobs (thanks to Xerox and an unexpected layoff this past Monday) I'll have plenty of free time for riding this season.
If the MI guys can do it, why can't all us "up-staters"? Where would we ride out of? I just mapped from my house to Groton... 61.5 miles taking back roads. That's not too bad. As I understand it, there's supposed to be some nice trails south of Syracuse.
