I am looking to buy either and I was wondering what one is faster in a drag race and what are the top speeds of each Stock. I was also wondering how a ZR900 would fare against both of them. Thanks alot people

sounds like a bad running f7. my zrt 600 takes my buddy's srx 700 all the way. my firecat destroyes it. not to mention srx's ride like a lumber wagon. srx is way behind in technology although they are pretty reliable and good on gas. no question in my book:
f7 the best, zr 900 good, srx way behind the times. talk to people that own them. like how they run hate how they ride. a little clutching and gearing make an f7 rock even on the top end. stock form a zr 900 will beat it.

C'mon guys, Yamaha has'nt had a sled that will compete in years. Any of you that ride one know that it is too heavy and its down on horse power. Even my old 600 zrt had the hp of the srx. I've never seen a srx or viper win a race unless it was raceing its brother. Don't get me wrong I love the looks and sound of both of theese sleds and they have some neat technology but they just don't stack up. Cat's f6 will give both of them a run and the f7 and zr 900 are out of the question. Polaris and ski-Doo also are way ahead even with Polaris not changeing their sleds in the past few years. Don't see them on the race track much cause they need to update. I don't have anything bad to say about either sled they pretty much rock as trail sleds.

those must be some poorly set up srxs. no way should a zrt 600 take an srx.i have never driven one but just my observations at our local radar track. those things boogy when dialed in .they are supposed to be pretty rough riders though and they used a low profile track i beleive so not too good in the fluffy stuff. im a cat rider but ive learned to respect those srxs

my zrt 600 is dialed in and comes out of the hole with the best of them and the only good running srx i've seen have been warmed up with pipes, reeds, ect... then they are strong but it should be if you drop $1000 plus on the motor. and radar runs are alot different than a drag race. clutch setup is way different and depending on the length of the radar run gearing can play a factor

honestly in my opinion the SRX is one of the fastest sleds still out. even though its not produced anymore. my uncle has a 04 rev 800 renegade. clutched, jetted piped, and studded and its real nasty yet my other uncles bone stock SRX with studs seems to pull him on the big end.i had a 96 ZRT as well it was clutched and it couldnt hold the srx off. those sleds are more designed for straight wide open area like the UP of michigan. they handle like a dream but everyone is right when they say they ride like shit

hey joe, how about helping people out instead of saying how clutched and tuned your f-7 is every post....literally. they're all good sleds depending on what kind of riding you'll be doing with them. the srx is still a crazy fast sled. but the f-7 and zr 900 will take it. check out the srx though, they put new shocks and a new track on this year, and it's an awesome machine. the motors will run forever. and 96zrt600, the reason the srx is taking the renegade, is probably because of the renegade long track, plus it has 1 1/4" lugs on it. those will slow you down alot in the top end.

srx's are nice sleds but an f7 will take it. my buddy has one (getting fixed right now for blown motor, after only having 700 miles on it) and my 02 600 ZL would take it up to about 60 mph, after that he would walk away from me, he drove my sled last weekend and couldn;t beleive the power, enuff said.

SRX vs F7

I have an 01 SRX 700 and I still race it today in stock class and it runs a 5.4 in 500 feet no F7 has beat me yet! When they are set up RIGHT watch out.Don't get me wrong the F7 is a nice sled but I am tried of people bashing the SRX. There are alot of people out there that think they are racers but have no idea how to set a snowmobile up. HP's don't matter if you can not get it to the ground. again properly set up. the SRX is a great sled and still today very competitive.

stock for stock on all 3. srx will take the f7 top end, but the f7 jumps out of the hole. and whoever said the zr 900 rocks the f7 is wrong too. stock for stock they swap wins. the zr 900 is only ten more horsepower and is heavier, coupled with the narrow track of the f7 which is much better for speed runs, its a fair race, but ive seen the f7 come out on top more times than less. the 03 zr900s are the most competition, if the 900 has diamond drive, forget it.

I don't know about you guys with 600's saying your beating srx700s in a drag race. My buddy has a 2000 SRX700 triple/triple and that thing straight up hauls the mail. My 700 Renegade didn't stand a chance against it, he also smoked a 700 Polaris SKS. I'd have to say the slow ones weren't running right and need carb or clutch work.

OK guys I've posted this before and I'll post it again.

The F7 WILL win. The 2003 Arctic Cat F7 is the fastest 700 stock in existence, at 103.4mph. The SRX is quick, sure, but not the fastest.
Let us not forget either that the fastest stock snowmobile EVER only went 106.7mph, and that was the 2009 Arctic Cat Z1 Turbo. The facts don't lie.
