Hey all! Just started lurking and wanted to say hi. Im looking to buy a sled soon, nothing fancy but cheap.

How cheap? Well, I dont mind doing all the work myself so Id like to get a sled for under $1500 but would prefer under $1000.

What I need from you guys is suggestions, mainly what to look for and stay away from when buying a sled for that price. Its my first sled so it doesnt have to be pretty as long as its fun.

Look forward to learning and riding soon!

Welcome and Happy Trails

Are you planning to go up high, or stay down low?
What are the people that you will be riding with running?
This can help you as they will or should know how to fix things.

My house is around 6300 ft and Ill be in that range up to probably 8-9000 ft at most.
I dont know anyone around me that rides except some of my neighbors (Im still new to the hood lol)

Ok, mid 90's sleds work. Anything specific I should look out for (get this model, track length, stay away from this year's fuel injection, ect)?

For your snow, you want the longest, deepest lug you can find. The snow gets deep! Most popular will be the Arctic Cat Powder Special or Polaris RMK's with some SkiDoo Summits thrown in. Some of the triple Polaris sleds ran well, but can be tempermental. I would try to spend a bit more and buy a Polaris Gen II RMK 700 with the 144" track. JMHO. If you find some sleds available in your area, post a link and the guys will chime in about pros and cons for you.
