allot of people in the north end of utah typically ride monte up hwy 39 past causey dam. Not quite as far as woodruff. Thats where we went last weekend. Had a great time, a good 4 feet was already sitting. went with a couple of my buddies and on thursday i bought a sled. be going up there most likely(hopefully) early december and ALL of december because i'll be deploying soon.
Skip the deployment... I'll write you a note to give to your commander.
Seriously - thank you for what you do! I'm too old for active duty, so I support our warfighters (as a civilian) on base.
The real riding season doesn't usually start until after Christmas, but then it normally lasts well into April. Hopefully we will get some snow early in the season so you can get out there and have some fun.
monte cristo (sr39) is popular place. If your looking for more extreme terrain you should head up to the logan snowmobile trail complex. www.snowut.com has a lot of info. Tony's grove is also a favoraite among locals.
WOW... looks like conditions weren't bad that day. SnoTel is reporting 30+ inches at Monte... has been for a few weeks now.
I still have to rebuild my Polaris top end, and I'm in the middle of a move... so riding season will have to wait till after the first of the new year for me.
They weren't to bad we drove to Curtis creek and unloaded there some places that day had 4' some spots had 3" ha ha. But the gate was closed this weekend and snow was a good 3 miles up the road I didn't feel like dirt riding that far so cut my losses and went home. This weekend should be good though!
Guardmans pass is just past solitude ski resort. If you know to get to solitude you ccan get to guardmans pass. Its one left turn after you pass the resort. Its really easy to miss. Its a really sharp left turn. That's probably the best I can explain it.

Haven't been out at all this year (so far). I have a friend who rode Monte Cristo a couple weeks ago, and he said it was decent if you stayed on the trail. It was thin off-trail, but he didn't ride very far north... just did the 39 to Curtis Creek, to Ant Flat loop...
If you check out the Logan Summit webcam, it looks like they're getting quite a bit of snowfall right now.
I know this is an old thread, but I am new to the forum and also from northern Utah. If you get a chance there are some great spots across the border in Bear Lake valley.
