I have the chance to buy a set of psi twin pipes for my 96 vmax 600. I have been looking for a set a loud pipes for it and havnt had much luck til i found these.

Are these pipes any good? or could it cause my sled to blow up faster? Power increase or decrease?

Thanks for your help!

psi pipes usually went into stock cans

PSI pipes were designed to produce more power for racing, not to piss off landowners and about everyone else but the person riding the noisy machine.

That said, they are thinner walled and do emit a little more noise than stock, and will get you a ticket on the trails since they are not stock. Aftermarket exhaust is generally illegal even if it makes less noise than stock.

Noisy cans almost always make less power than stock and are justified by a slight weight advantage over stock. Generally, aftermarket cans are a total waste of money, unless your object is to get snowmobiles banned from the area you run. If that is your objective, THEY WORK GREAT.

I apreciate your reply ac bigbore, but you didnt really even answer any of my questions and you were pretty biased about these pipes. You dont even know where Im from and if you did you would know there are no one that patrols snowmobiles because there isnt much snow here and not many trails. More or less you just kinda irritated me with your remarks.

My buddy runs psi pipes on his sled and he loves them. He got ok power from them and they sound sick much better than stock. If i were you and the price was good i would jump on them in a heart beat. Do not let these pipe haters get to you it is kinda fun to mess with them with that said drink lots of beer make your sled as loud as you can and at 3am ride all around the trails that go through private land and don't forget to hang you beer cans in the trees

please read thread"this is what we have to deal with..."

Then you will know why most of us in the forum are "biased" against loud pipes and cans.

I am not biased against PSI pipes. I own a pair and they go into the STOCK can to try to minimize any increase in noise, as the pipes were designed to do.
They still do make the sled louder and are illegal in Wisconsin and Michigan. PSI claims an 8 HP gain with the pipes, and there is some weight savings.

Edit: please read thread titled "This is what CLUBS have to deal with, respect landowners"

Good luck with psi, there customer service is real bad. If you get a set of good fitting pipes count yourself lucky. You will get a minimal increase in power maybe 10 hp at most. You will need to address clutching as well. That's where the lack of customer service will come into play.

Thanks for your help guys, and I like your style snowman, lol. Will a stock clutch be fine for now on my sled with the psi pipes I just purchased? I picked them up for $165, which I didnt think was terrible, specially since when I checked the shipping and it was going to cost this nice guy around $50-$60.
