more help with purchase please
Okay I am torn and do not know which sled to buy. I have a 2004 rev 800 snow check edition for 2500.00 with 2200 miles, I also have found a 2004 Rx1 with 1600 miles for 2500.00. Which sled is going to be best for off trail free riding?

Need more info! You indicated you want to ride off-trail... so track length and lug size become important factors.

Both sleds are stock and have 151 tracks. not sure at all on lug size lets assume they are the same.

Both would make good sleds and neither would dissapoint. I think this is totally opinion matter, classic case of yammi vs. Ski-Doo

all I have found for a down side to the rx1 is it is significantly heavier and a little slower off the line. I think I will be riding whatever I buy for a couple years then passing it down to my wife, the rx1 has electric start, thats kinda a bonus for her. I am leaning on the rx1 now I think as it has less miles and from what I have read they are very reliable.

Alot of rx-1 owners love them. Electric start doesnt mean anything. My sister who is 14 could easily pull start either of those, and it should only take a couple pulls. I think reverse would be more of a deciding factor. Im sure your wife would love reverse xP im not saying dont go for the rx-1, just try not to base your decision souly on estart. It is cheaper, but heavier also means harder to move if you (or your wife) gets stuck. Hence why reverse is more of a determining factor for your wife.

Well the guy with the Rev called and I told him I was considering the rx1 he decided to match the price of the RX1 so looks like I'll go with the Rev my deciding factor was 100 pounds.
Revs have reverse too I think

Congrats! You will be dazzled when you hit the reverse button and the engine stalls, then starts spinning backwards
I've had sleds with electronic reverse for years and it still dazzles me

Got jacked!! Sled is messed upi went about 1/2 mile on a trail and it blew the coolant cap off. Got some searious engine work ahead I am afraid. What a way to break into the sport. Got to ride a friends sled anyway and I am hooked. Had no idea you could take off and stop so fast in the snow.

Re: more help with purchase please
My guess is coolant wasnt bled out. Doubt any engine damage has been done. Same thing could hapen if you run it out of oil. Hopefully you have not caused any major damage, which you prob. Didnt unless your now seized.
