Help with sled purchase

Very new never owned a sled I am looking at a 2004 skido rev 800 snow check. asking price is 2500.00 it has 2200 miles. what shoud I look for and what costs can I expect in the near future? Andy advice would be great, thanks..Jason

I should add I am mechanicly inclinded and have spent the majority of my life on dirt bikes.

Welcome to the forum! Seems like a really decent deal. If you're new to sleds, one of the best things you could do is bring a snowmobiler buddy along with you to look at it. Common things to check would be engine compression, condition of the track and suspension components, hyfax and carbide wear, a straight tunnel and good general cosmetic shape will also be a factor. If possible, run it on a track stand and observe the driveline components. Make sure the clutches shift smoothly and watch for vibrations or in the primary. Other than that, just general things like oil or coolant leaks. (You're mechanically inclined, use your own judgment) Good luck!

yeah look at the stuff listed above also check grease zerks and lube points to check and see if it has been regularly maintained. Check suspention and rear skid, rails to see if bolt holes are egged out. If possible take it for a ride also you might want to offer a knowlegeable person a few bucks to check it for you. Better to lose a couple bucks than a couple thousand. Sounds like a good price if in good condition. To my knowledge the 800 motor in the 2004 was a good one. Good luck hope it works out!

I don't know many wives that ride 800's, and those that do beat their sleds up as bad as most guys I ride with. Just sayin'. Buyer beware!

The 600's had the issues, but the 800's were good that year.
