Hello from Kapuskasing, Northern Ontario

Just joined yesterday. I have a 2007 Polaris 550 Trail Deluxe which I bought in 2008. It runs good except that it's rather hard on gas and it darts like crazy.
But it rides like a dream and that is what I was looking for. I guess I can't have everything.
Anyways, I am a 65 year retiree, and I spend my winters volunteering for the local snowmobile club as a trail warden. What a great way to pass the winter(besides ice fishing)
.Well that's it for now, talk to you all later.
Oh yes SNOWMOBILE FORUM is great site. Lots of good info.

Welcome aboard! Check for bent runners, then do an alignment on the skis (check toe). If the sled isn't picked, the carbides may be too aggressive.

carbides

smallengineguy
I bought a new set of single carbides last winter, from my dealer, which were supposed to eliminate darting but they don't work too well.
I'll check the alignment and see what I get.
What do you mean "if the sled isn't picked"?

Hey, good to see someone on here from "The Kap". I am a OFSC trail warden down south here in Strathroy, which is near London. I used to have a Polaris 550 as well, which was a fan cooled engine, and it too was brutal on gas....mine was an '04.

Hello Watters88
Yea, I hear all Polaris sleds are hard on gas. But there seems to be an issue with all the sleds. If it isn't a gas hog then it's something else. You just can't win.
I have only 2400mi on my sled so I guess I'll keep it for a couple more years and then I'll trade it for something else, probably a 4stroke.
But I hear the efi's are good on gas too. So, we shall see what happens.
Right now the price of gas,in Kap, is about 1.03 a liter and it's bound to go up,so I know I'll have to do something if I wan't to keep sledding.
Anyways,nice to hear from you.
