just bought my first sled

Hello everyone,
My name is Peter and I'm from Burlington. I will be doing most of myriding in Port Severn, Ontario.

I just bought my first sled, 2000 skidoo mach z 800 with 10000 km on the clock(I realize this will be a powerful fuel hungry pig).
I'm very excited for the snow to fall to say the least!

Thanks for having me.

Yea I plan on taking it eazy and getting used to the machine. I'm responsible (usually) and don't care if I'm ahead of the pack or behind.
I'm pretty sure I will not out-grow this sled this season...or ever from what I've been reading. Thanks for the welcome.

I really just hope to be able to keep the sled running all season. I don't mind turning a wrench and spending money as long as I can have my fun.
I have been reading about a few people up in arms about how the sleds are timebombs, but I have just been chalking this up to internet ramblings.

Welcome and post some pictures. An 800 is a lot of sled...and I thought my 600 was a fast, first sled.

Ya, 800 is a big first sled, but if you are careful and responsible, it should work. How hard was it getting insurance for it here in Ont? I am only 21, but have had 5 sleds in the last 6 years... started with a 1997 500 venture(2 seasons), then 2004 550 supersport, then 2001 vmax 500, then a 1998 vmax 600 and for this season I have a 700 viper. Slowly working myself into bigger sleds, but i dont really know how much motor you need here in Ontario, I think 1000s are USELESS personally in this area, ya you can pass an 700 on the trail, but still....

I am from Strathroy, which is near London.

I got my insurance for 301/yr from td. It was not difficult I just gave them the info and they gave me the price. I'm 23y/o with a DZ license.

Yea I figured it was decent. My current insurance company for my vehicle and apt (belair direct) only insured sleds up to 700cc so no luck there. They give me a great rate for car and apartment, oh well!
