Should I use old oil
Hi everyone. New to the site. Got my first sled last week. Can't wait for A blizzard!!!
I've just got A question about using old injector oil.
I picked up an 02 ski doo Grand Touring 600 with 309 miles on it.
The thing is in brand new condition.
The deal came with 4 jugs of bombardier 2 stroke mineral oil.
I was just wondering whether it would be safe to still use this oil after it's
been sitting for 7 years? ( don't need to blow the motor right off the bat )
Also if anyone has any info relative to this machine it would be greatly appreciated, ( any problems I should know about? don't know if this 600 is A good motor or bad motor for skidoo, clutch problems? )
I'm just trying to learn all I can about my new toy. I plan on keeping this sled for A long time and I want to start off on the right foot.
Thanks.

Welcome! As long as the oil is sealed, it's OK to use. The 600 is a great motor, one of Ski Doo's best!

You will love the sled! If its beed sittin for 7 years make sure you lube the chassis and have everything checked out. No sense in spendin more money fixing it if you don't need to. Good luck and enjoy!
PS we are all waiting for a blizzsard!

Welcome to the forum. I wish I could find a low mileage sled like yours!
Oil is not hygroscopic so it doesn't absorb water like brake fluid does. If it's been capped to keep out dirt, it should still be good. Oil is stored in huge vented tanks and doesn't go bad.
Old gas should be siphoned from the tank and new gas run through to keep it working well.

If the fuel wasn't stablilized, you may have some carb issues too...its very easy to take them off, disassemble them and give them a good cleaning with carb cleaner. I used my Ski-doo shop manual and it had step by step instructions and pics to help you along. The sled ran great after I cleaned those carbs. (Winnipeg eh? does it snow in Winnipeg ??

Oh we definately get our fair share of snow here. And bloody cold as well!!
But I'm A mailman so I practically live outside.
As far as the stablizer goes the guy I bought these sleds off of ( I got an 02
Legend 600 as well from the same guy, both right at the 300 mile mark and in brand new condition. My brother bought the legend.) He ran them every year added stabilizer and fogged everything before storing them in the spring. I really lucked out with these sleds, They run as good as they look.

No one read his post correctly... The oil has been sitting for 7 years.... He is asking the shelf life of it!
