Newbie From Michigan!

well to my surprise i'm a snowmobile owner! right place at the right time! I've been a honda 250sx guy since 1985 and have rented a few sleds over the last few years, but never really could "afford/justify" jumping into snowmobiling because of the "short season" here in Michigan....

Well, I was in Northern Michigan visiting my parents this weekend when their neighbor that was retiring to florida offered me a 1994 Polaris Indy 440 for $400... mint condition.... all service records since he bought it in 1995... they only put on a 100miles since 2000 when then they had a new track, shocks and clutch put on by a local dealer...

took it for a 10 mile "shake down" cruise yesterday with some friends in 10" of new powder! i'm going to do a compression test today to see how "worn out" the engine is, it seems fine to me;however, i just want to get some base line stats on the new rig...

I figure for $400 bucks, it's a great 2nd sled if i jump into buying a bigger/newer one next winter....

THANKS

"fat guy in a little coat"

Welcome! Wow what great deal! Enjoy! I don't suppose they also made you take the trailer, helmets, two set of riding gear, case of oil, extra belts, spark plugs and original shop manual as part of the deal. That would bring a tear to many eyes at this site! Lucky!!!!

BUT NO TRAILER!!... i'm currently craigslisting/searching for one! i've got a brand new pro band saw i'm trying to trade!

ok maybe only a half a tear from ya then?!!LOL, i know i got a great deal hence the need to get into snowmobiling!LOL... like i sated always love snowmobiling(and i'm a polaris fan) just couldn't quite justify the purchase... but it was a no brainer, and i'm real glad i did it... had a lot of fun in the last couple of days in northern michigan...

CHEERS!!

edit: oh ya and 2 belts, 1 xtra under the hood and one hanging on the toolbox!lol

Hello & Welcome!! It looks like you may have beat out my boyfriend for the Deal of the Century! haha And yes - it's addicting. But hey - at least we usually walk away with a few good stories & great memories for all the cash we sink in to this hobby!
