What's your favorite length track?
I actually found that a 121" with a 2" paddle is insane! What do you guys prefer? 121, 136, 144, 152, 162?

id say...136. you get a little better hillclimb/powder performance, without much change through trails.

Yeah I've rode my friends RMK 136" and I did like it. It's just something about being able to go with a 121" and knowing how to ride that a guy with a 144" can go But I did enjoy the ride which the 121" can't compare with anything higher.

Ideal Sled
I've been looking at the REV's, now I've completely turned away from Ski-Doo since they came out with the REV chassis. However, from the videos, and sleds I've seen on the trail, it seems as though the REV Summit would be the ideal mountain sled as far as riding position, weight distribution, and most importantly; traction. If anyone has a REV Summit, no matter what size engine/track length, could you reply and let me know how it does as far as over all riding/handling/traction goes? Thanks.

wait...what do you not like about the rev? have you ridden it before? if not, i suggest trying it, and riding it for a bit longer than a normal switch. it may feel top heavy at first, but then you get used to it. i personally love it. i mean, the whole industry has gone with the "rider forward" position. (in american snowmobiler, look at the mach z and apex...they look similiar, and read yamha's ads0
cal, i can. for where i ride, a 159, 2" track would be horrible...i dont see mountains around here.

I have never tried more then a 121". Because no one up here has one because we don't get enough fresh powder and we don't really have any big hills.

i have a 136 and prefer it considerably over a 121. i might even stretch it to 144...
as for the mountain rev's... they typically don't get the best reviews from the magazines, i haven't seen enough of them around to ask people directly, but they typically say they are great "point and shoot" sleds, but for true back country riding the RMK's are typically good, and the AC m7 was someones sled of the year last year, american snowmobiler maybe?

"Point and Shoot" huh? Yeah see that would be no good for me because I definitely need to be able to manouver the sled around because I do live in the "Pine Tree State" This makes for very few wide open areas except for the golf course. But I will take your advice and try and ride a REV for longer than just a quick blast and see what I think. Thanks again guys.

...american snowmobiler, best mountain sled of the year is the summit HMX. ive read good reviews on it before too. but, yeah last year, i think AC won it.(MXZ 600 rev has best sled again this year )
when i first got on it, it felt strange. it feels tippy, but when i rode it for a good distance, and over some rough stuff that would have hurt hitting sitting on my 500, i loved it. didnt even stand for the bad stuff. on an older chasis i would have though. it is a love or hate chasis however. im pretty sure we have no polaris riders around here anymore, and few yamaha riders now. its all skidoo or AC.

Yeah my uncle had the new Mach Z and actually got beat by a modded up 800 X Edge. I couldn't believe it, and he had 244 studs in the Mach Z too! So after that I was a little sketchy about the REV's. But when I saw the 6's & 8's on the drags, my opinion changed about the REV and it's drag capabilities.

My bud just bought a REV (550 fan) last year. I rode it for a minute or 2, then said "that's OK, I've had enough". Didn't like it. But I rode it again a week later for a longer time and it's actually a GREAT sled once you get used to it. The more I rode it, the more I wanted one. The only thing I don't like is there's NO leg room for a taller person.

Yeah I don't have to worry about that I'm only 5'-7" so leg room isn't too much of a problem for me

For boondocking swamps in Alaska, my Summit does the job nicely. 144x16x2 pushed by a 'lil 600HO
I can make my sled go the same places as my buddies M1 with a 159x2.25 tipped. It just takes me a little more finese...
I have never pushed my sled as far as it will go on the hills. Sounds funny, but I just dont want to be one of those guys being shishkebobbed after an avalanche. But, when I do point it towards the top, it has never let me down... short of disintegrating a belt or two. Hit it Pu$$y!!!!!

Yeah our hills aren't big enough here for avalanches, and plus the snow here in the East is real dense, not fluffly like out west. Which can be good and bad. I suppose it makes it a little more difficult when you're trying to climb and your sled just drops haha. But non the less, like you say some finess always helps and especially knowing how to ride your sled.

Magoo what are you doing talking about mt. sleds? You lve in ohio. theres no mountains their. Back west you need the longer track. You shouldn't even be talkin about stuff you don't know about.
