Question Gearing

I have a 2000 PMK 700 with a 2" paddle track. My gearing is 20 to 39. And for going through deep snow (breaking trail) what would be a good gear ratio to go to? What other kind of mods can I do for going through deep snow? How do I get better floatation?

i am not sure about the gearing but i would lower the front of the rear suspension to get the weight off the skis
