Thoughts on SkiDoo Summit XM

Anyone have any thoughts about the 2013 SkiDoo Summit XM?

They claim to have a design to help mountain riding...sidehilling, carving and turning...perfect for boondocking throught the trees?

I'm looking at buying a 2013, SkiDoo Summit, 800 XM 154.

The Cat adn Pro both also claim to have improved the same but maybe jsut a little behind ?

I've been a yamaha guy but they seem to have headed toward trail machines...

Looking for a good mountain ride///

The thing that SkiDoo did was a rocking rear skid. It can pivot 3 degrees from side to side. They claim that will allow their sled to sidehill better.
I hope they are correct, most of the guys I know (even skidoo riders) admit it is harder to sidehill a doo than either the cat or poo. Do has a wider front end and it is planted better than either the cat or poo. It does make it harder to sidehill though.

I forget who it was but that has been tried before and they dropped it. The side to side motion caused things to crack.

Poo went with a new drive train. They shed a lot of weight by going with a belt drive system. Got rid of the entire gear/chain/oil thing. They are a couple ponies down on either Cat or Skidoo, but you can't tell a couple horse power.

Cat pretty much just tweeked their sleds. I don't think they did anything radical this season.

My personal preferance is either the cat or poo. I am not a doo fan.

The cat is, the polaris isn't.
Depending on which sled you are talking about.
The polaris pro 155 is about 20 lbs lighter.

Well from everything I have heard, a lot of people are still liking the Polaris better. It would certainly be my top pick!

apparently they should have made it around 419 lbs and added some mass to the driveshaft.

i honestly feel sorry for those that popped the dollars on those sleds. yes, they are sweet and have potential, and at this point polaris is standing behind them. but what a let down. doo shaft issues all over again. not if, but when.

i seriously considered one of these, would always choose poo over doo, but i am glad i stuck to my convictions about first year model releases. learned that the hard way years back.

on the bright side, being as light as they are, they tow nicely.

Polaris has the fix issued and it should be arriving at dealerships in the next week.
I rolled the dice on this sled because of the engine and chassis.
The drive shaft never even hit my radar till some guys I know started losing them on stupid easy stuff.

got the tech bulletin the other day. interesting concern on the bearing. hopefully an isolated issue and all works out.

again, i truly feel for the owners of these. i had high expectations not unlike yourself. they sure felt good on the test rides.

but if you think about the E-Tec 800R at 163 horsepower. I mean thats a lot of power for a sled.

I would rather a reliable engine with a little less power.

You would think that with Polaris as well..... But they haven't. I don't know I might be totally wrong. I have heard from a few people now that the e-tec keeps blowing engines
