Flipped, now melted..... why?

Hi all, This April, on the last trip of the season, my brother flipped his sled in a creek bottom. it sat upside down not running for about 1/2 an hour while we dug it out. After starting it and ridding to the trail, the check engine light came on, and a compression test back home revealed that the engine was indeed in need of a rebuild. I can find no other explanation besides the problem being caused by it sitting upside down. Is this possible? And is there a way to start them to stop this happening again?

What kind of sled?
I know 4 strokes have a huge problem with that.

May have gotten some water (snow) in the airbox. that would be my first guess.
Or else temp shock if you packed snow onto the engine through the engine vents when it rolled over will cause rapid cooling and will cause the expanded piston to rub HARD against the rapidly cooling cylinder wall.

ah. Did you check out the oil line?
Those sleds had a problem. When you flip them or roll them over the oil line was positioned in such a way that it would kink and cut down or stop completely the oil flow.
One of the guys found that the air box got shoved down hard when rolled over and it crushed the oil line and left a large air bubble.

I know of a few people that had that problem.
