Thumbs up 2001 Summit 800

I just got into riding snowmobiles here in Wyoming and absolutely love it, am hooked definitely. Bought a 2001 Ski Doo Summit 800 151", with 3500 miles on it. Only rode it twice, once in the grass and once on hardpack early in the season on the mountain (Snowy Range near Laramie).
Just would like any tips on my sled from members here. I was talking to a guy @ an expo that said the bombardier engine in my sled is famous for breaking pistons and grenading engine, any validity here? This guy recommended throwing in a set of pistons. I am a mechanic as a profession so this wouldn't phase me much as far as the execution if it was worth it.

Any tips on this machine would be awesome!! Thanks!!

Sounds like a nice sled.
I may be moving to Riverton Wyoming this summer. I will have to find some good places to ride.

I've never heard anything regarding that engine, actually many good things. By this time the engines were developed and so was the chassis since 2001 was the 3rd year of the zx chassis. You bought a nice sled! Welcome to the forum!

The expo guy was wrong. That 800 engine is a great motor.

Yes, I agree with these guys, I always thought that 800 engine was pretty good, I do know a guy who just sold one with about 26,000KM(approx 16,000Miles) on the engine, thats with the engine NEVER having work done on it....
