Will a 16" wide track fit under a stock edge rmk tunnel?

im sure this has been posted before, but i can't find it. i am looking to get a little more floatation out of my 144" RMK, but dont want rail extentions. my question is will a 16" wide track out of a rev fit under my sled without any clearance issues? i have measured it and it looks like it will fit, but its boarderline. i dont want to buy the track only to find it wont fit. any info is appreciated. thanks.

Some guys have tried it, they had to grind down some of the rivets in the tunnel and use spacers to push the tunnel out a bit. Sometimes the track needs to be shaved on the edges too. Some had no issues, other guys have had problems...

Try going to Snowest.com and doing a search there... bet you find some info from those that have done it.

Sounds like it could easily go both ways. i also just found a complete skid and track out of a 151" rmk for $300. Do you think its worth it?

I would say that's a good deal.
What would you want for your 144" skid and track, then? My brother-in-law is looking at extending his 700XC and make it a mountain sled (or maybe I could extended my RMK out to a 144...hhhmmmm).

I had both a 144" 800 and a 151" 800. The 151" did float a bit better and was a little better in the deep powder, but was harder to turn when I was going through the trees. It wasn't horrible, but made for a longer day if all you were doing was boondocking.

For 300 bucks, you can't go wrong. If you dont' find that much advantage with the longer track, you should be able to sell it easily for what you paid.

well after making the 120 mile drive to pick up the rails and track, the guy "forgot" to tell me that the skid was tweaked ... sooo, it looks like i will be sticking with the 144 for now. i will be doing that 16" wide swap soon. got my hands on a track from a rev for $100, i dont think it will make that much of a difference as far as floatation goes, but its worth a try. thanks for the help.
