Question 98 Polaris 700 RMK 151x2 backfire

Hey

I have a 1998 Polaris 700 RMK with a 151x2 track, 700 Liberty twin with twin SLP Pipes, I live in Breckenridge Colorado which is above 9000feet. Im having troubles with my sled backfiring , Does anyone know if its just the tuning(fuel to oil ratio) or my plugs. Also if anyone else is running 9000 to 13000 feet what is your needle set at? I have the KEIHIN PWK Carbs

Anyone have the power packs and or boost bottle and are they worth the money?

Thanks

Did you fix your backfire? I had a similiar problem with my 05 700 RMK. I found out the prblem was that I had my sled to lean. I backed off 2 jet sizes and it fixed the problem. Also, Im running my needle in the #2 postion.

Check you choke plungers. Make sure they are not sticking. I had that issue this weekend with mine, did the same thing. Had my left choke cable bend radius too tight just before it went into the carb there, where is zipties to the airbox.

Im thinking its more my elevation, Im in the Rocky Mtns up around 9500feet most the time, then when i really go out im up 12000 13000feet at most. i can't really find a valid jetting chart and from what i have found my main is what they recommend for the elevation 9000-12000 feet, in other words i should be able to dial the tuning in better than it is. Do i have to change the slow jet, or the needle size, im not sure!

But thanks

I ride between 9000 and 11500. Im running my sled pretty lean. I have 340s in but I always have to watch my gauges.

The thing is, when i ride a little lower in altitude, maybe 500 feet lower it seems to run awesome, up those 500 feet it'll backfire untill warmer, then run ok but a little worse than if i were lower. Im at the second needle position from the bottom, not sure if jets are stock or if they were changed. Maybe im a bit lean but ill have to change jets to correct it now i think!

Thanks
