The numbers refer to the size of the track in inches. Trail sleds come with a 121", crossover sleds usually have 136" to 144", mountain sleds have 144" to 166" and bigger. The longer the track, the greater the flotation and greater the ability to push you up a hill. The flip side; it takes a TON of HP to turn the track, so your top end speed goes away in a quick hurry. Mountain sleds are geared a lot slower than a comparable trail sled to compensate for the big track.

Thanks. I will be needing new tracks soon.Mine is a 121" x 15". I was referring to the first post. It sounded like you could use a variety lengths of track. I take it you have to do some modifications to go with a longer track?

You have to have rails that fit the longer track, either extensions of existing rails or longer rails, or a different suspension. Then, to go longer, regearing is usually necessary so you can move efficiently.

I have a Polaris 700 RMK with a 151, i was told to not go any bigger because your HP won't make the 700 go like it does with a smaller track, the 151 really goes in powder and goes up those hills nicely, and this is in the Rocky Mountains!

Look here for the kit to stretch it out. Ask about their recommended gearing. You'll need to gear it down. Depending on what you expect to do you may be wasting your time. A longer track won't take you higher unless you can develop the track speed to get there. I'd rather have a wound-out 141 than an underpowered 156. Talk to Hartman. He's the king of Yami track mods.

i think i would goo with 151 or 144 youll still have power to push that 151 and they work great in the deep stuff.. i have 151 on mine but i have a 800 witch is bored out too..
but my brothers sledd is a 600 with a 144 and it does really good but your not climbing steep hills with really deep powder.. well good luck with your track decisions and hope works out good for you.
