Skidoo or yamaha...

Hi guys im an intermediate rider from the province of Quebec. Im looking for a new sled mainly for riding in powder snow. I got a budget around 10k. So far im interested in a PhazerMTX or a SKIDOO summit everest 146. Any owners of these two machines can give me their impressions....or even better someone who tried both.

I would go with the ski-doo. Their 600 should have way more power than the phazer which is heavy for only 80hp in deep snow. If I was going yamaha it would have to be bumped up to the Nitro for me.

I'd say go Ski-Doo as well. The Everest should run circles around the Yammi due to the large difference in power.

Go with the bomb. Those phazars are really heavy and wont give you as much fun as that 600.

Actually the phazers are fun little sleds and pretty light considering its a four stroke, but I would never take one over a new 600 E-TEC skidoo. But I would not buy a new summit 800 yet, the 800r motor(the one in the mtn sleds) has has had issues and although a few have been fixed I would not buy one until they are all fixed.
All in all a new XP 600 etec would be a great sled. Snowest said theres only one sled thats ever been made that you actually have to try to get stuck and thats a 151" XP, and they also said that the 144" will perform almost as well as a 151" so if I was going with a new mountain sled I would most likely go with the 141" XP.

I was just faced with making a similar decision myself. I wanted to get into a sled a little better for boondocking than my 99 MM 700,which is great, but a little heavy. I've heard and seen nothing but good about the ski-doos and the REV chassis but also talked to and witnessed few guys workin the Phazers in the powder in our area. For only 80 HP those things are amazing. Guys toss them around so easily because they are very light. I was surprised to hear the comment about them being heavy.(??) Fuel economy is supposed to be the best in the industry as well. Fuel injection and 4 stroke reliability. So, I brought home my 2007 Phazer MTX yesterday. There really aren't any REVs around here that haven't been put through the mill but sellers are still asking high dollars. This Phazers near perfect condition with 800 miles on it. Summer price was decent at $6000. Only problem is I gotta wait 4 months to ride it now.
Good luck with your decision. Either way I bet you'll be happy.

i dont have a summit but i have a mxz 800r. i know a lot of people had problems with theirs last year, but i didnt have one. the 09's have been said to have all the problems worked out.

i have never driven a phazer so i cant compare the 2. the only word i can use to describe the xp is amazing. iv never felt anything pull as hard as this one does. im 5'5" 120lbs and i can move this sled around very easily. the suspension can take good beating. even with the 121, it floats over snow. if you get the ski-doo you wont be disappointed.

I'd have to say neither. Have both brands, not models though. Ride with friends who do. I'm a Yamaha guy and would normally say the phazer. But I know for a fact they're have chain case problems. I'd stretch a little and go for the Nitro XTX if at all possible.

Ski doo all the way. And the 800 motor in the summits is fine now. More than 30 percent of all the 800 motors put into the 2007s were bad. They had the bad crank bearings. The company that made those bearngs actually went out of business and there is new bearings the motors now. They should be good. just bought a 09 summit x and it kicks my 07s ass big time. I was lucky enough to get a good 07 .

Agree, it’s pretty powerful!!! Did not test it in deep snow yet, but the first feet of snow is building up here right now.
