In deep snow counter steer. This will help get the sled to lean the way you want, then more gas and turn into it. Also might have to stand on the side you want to turn.

If you want to make a right turn in deep snow first you will turn the skis to the left. Yes this is what I mean by counter steer. Takes practice but this gets the sled started to lean inside the turn not outside. You still need to lean into the turn keeping the sled tipped, even counter steering again if the sled starts to flatten out.

We cant teach you how to carve. You have to go do it. There are two main things you need to know when carving. The throttle is your friend...and you cant be afraid to hang off that machine. Get a mountain bar and practice with that. We cant teach you how. Just go do it.

Your gonna have a hard time trying to carve with that sled. For the very reasons that you mentioned. Since you need to be in deeper snow to carve. That track is not gonna cut it.

If it is just to pack it down. On the first pass just give it some juice. Is it a wooded area, field etc...?

Ask him if you can borrow it to pack down a path through that field. That's the perfect sled to do it.
