Like advice on used RMKs
Could use some help on deciding to buy one of two sleds. Here's my choices:
2001 RMK 800, 151 inch track (500 miles)
or
2003 RMK 700, 14? inch track, Edge sus. (1200 miles)
Both sleds are selling for 3500 bucks.
Appreciate some advice.

The one with the lower miles.
Hint, one post of any question is enough.

both are good sleds. I personally am prob going to buy a similar 03'. What kind of riding are you going to be doing. The shorter track would be better for the trails, were as the longer better for the hill and powder. Other than that, what kinda condition are they in...which is better??

The 700 engine has less crank issues than the 800 does. The 144" track on the newer Edge will go almost any place the 151" will, and is easier to turn if you are off in the trees. The Edge chassis is a bit nicer ride over a Gen II. The VES engine on the 700 makes almost as much power as the non-VES engine on the 800. If you get the 800, keep an eye on the crank, get the clutch balanced, think about adding an engine plate, bigger PTO bearing, torque link on the PTO side, push stop on the MAG side. The 800 will last a long time but you have to make it like Polaris should have made it to begin with. To do the upgrades to the engine may cost you upwards of 500 bucks, figure that into your decision on pricing. If you send off the crank and it's already failing, add another $950.

Rmk's
those 2 sleds are a toss up except for the crank issues on the 2001, Id take the 700 over the 2001 800, IF those are the chassis your lookin at the 01, 02, 600's have the same power as the 700,s but a little lighter, polaris has built a solid 600 for a long time. Ive owned 3 800's 2 700's & 2 600's the sixes are my favorite. but that depends on what & where you like to ride. the 151 track is a great choice for the hills, I wouldnt go ant shorter myself.
anyway good luck, sled shoppin.

The 2003 Edge 700 RMK (144" track)has the better suspension and is probably lighter than the 800.

The 700 is a more reliable engine. Plenty enough power, better suspension. Go with the '03

yeah, take BC Dan's advice on the 800, unless you plan to get the crank serviced right away. SLP offers a big boy bearing upgrade kit for 150.00 bucks and they will balance crankshaft for 50.00 bucks, you dont want to be stuck with needing a crank case.. The motor mounts are also known to go bad casuing the PTO side of crank to wear and have excessive runout. Just be cautious, I would go with the 700,, plenty sled and reliable....

The Edge chassis is hands down the superior platform. The 700 is a great engine. 1200 miles is like 3 days of riding. It's barely broken in. Buy the Edge. Add a Tempa Flow and it'll be even better.
