Question MC 800 advice and questions

Hi. Great forum you have here.

I just bought a 2001 MC 800 LE.

This sled has a rebuilt engine (70 miles) and AAEN single tuned pipe. The clutch was rebuilt last year but I don't know if the weights etc. were changed or if it was just rebuilt to stock.

The sled has skidoo precision skis on it. Reverse, 2nd throttle and a hottdogger. lol
Stock track but in mint condition (144x15x2).

Total miles was 1300. The oil injection tube came loose somehow and a piston seized hard, resulting in a pretty much a total rebuild (one pot, both pistons, rings, pins bearings crankshaft etc..) Not sure if the reeds are stock or not. I have the sled techs number somewhere, I just have to find it. lol

Question time:

What suspension changes/adjustments are "must do's" for this sled? (Still getting my head around snowmobile suspensions).

I'll be doing trails and deep powder. There is lots of both near here. Any ski recommendations that can handle both well? Will these skidoo skis be all right for a season?

Someone on another forum (gasp) suggested sled jockeys drop brackets. How exactly will these effect the sled and will the front of the skid need to be lowered too? (And how do you do that.. links are good too).

One thing though. I did a compression check. 117 and 120 warm (high # is new pot) and 120 125 cold. Cheap $30 crappy tire gauge though. Shouldn't these be higher on a rebuild? (When I bought the sled it was just finishing a tank of 100:1 burn in premix, he used AC synthetic for the burn in. I just started using unmixed gas yesterday).

Any other general advice?

OH and I don't think Ill EVER double anyone on this sled again. Had my 70+ (but fit) dad on the sled yesterday for a test run, hit a weird powder covered dip in the snow going reasonably slow, he bounced up then his butt landed on the storage area of the seat. Springs should have been set harder too I guess, but anyway the end result was two cracked lower vertebrae. Thankfully no "major" damage though. Doctors say it's "minor". He's now recovering at home on pain killers. sigh.. (I just knew something like this would happen after all that EMR training - sort of like an EMT to you yanks.) Which brings me to another question. How the hell do you call 911 several miles up a mountain with no cell service?? The area had lots of people around but still...

One last..dumb question.. What kind of shovel do you powder people own, and where do you store it on the sled??

Thanks, I'll probably have more questions soon..
