Carrying a camcorder in the mountains

I'm going to the Big Horns next week. I want to bring my camcorder along. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. It's a Sony 8mm that I planned on carrying inside my coat. Anybody have any good or bad experiences or suggestions?

DO you mean to film while you ride, or just carry it with you?

SEG,
Just to carry with me and stop and film the other guys here and there. I'm too shaky to film standing still, let alone when riding.haha

Mostly what I was wondering is if anyone thought I would end up getting too much powder down my coat and destroying my camcorder or if it would be too uncomfortable to ride with it inside my coat.

If it's a small camcorder, get a large ziploc bag to put it in. You're going to have to see the comfort part for yourself...

Well, I dont know about you but I dont have enough room in my sled to carry half the stuff I like to bring. Up here we like to throw on a backpack on with large bag inside. As SEG said just in case put your special things in a ziploc bag, cause the snow gets ecverywhere.

if it's small enough to put in an inside pocket that works, but I used to keep mine inside my jacket hanging around my neck. Now that I keep it in the pack my back/neck doesn't seem to get as sore. If it's too awfully cold you might want to keep the batteries in your inside pockets and keep the camera in a ziploc like SEG said. I just wouldn't recommend hanging it around your neck.

Thanks Guys.
I was looking at some packs in a magazine last night. Might be the way to go. Thanks for your input.
