I havn't but I would have to think being such a small, light sled with a track it would go like a raped ape. I mean it's all track and nothing else, looks like it has good clearance on the front end so I would have to think as light as it is it would be very manuverable.

They look like they should do good like oneloud700 said. because it is nothing but track, engine, rider and a little extra metal to hold it together. Im still not excited by the engine size. There is no replacement for displacement.

I rode a trail version this weekend,I think it's more for the kid who likes to jump stuff. It's not a speed deamon by any means, but could be good for screwing off mainly. You probably won't summit anything with it except for a gravel pile!

I watched a couple tackle some hills that we were climbing around on, and they were doing about half of what the summits and rmks were doing. Could be the riders, could be that they were new machines and the guys didn't want to push them too hard or break them. Like they said they're more for the boondocker and not the hardcore climber. They do look like fun though. Turbo would probably help a lot also.

Wow that sucks. I'm a Yamaha fan but I think by the sounds of it that the machine is comparable to the Ski-Doo Freestyle. Good for kids but not built for adult. It definitely takes some power to be turning a 2" paddle I knwo that for sure. Just from putting a 2" on my 121" sled it' practically robbed 20mph off it. Luckily I geared and clutched it so on low end it still has it. Too bad for Yamaha though...

I rode one at the Yamaha demo ride a few weeks ago. It's a blast to pound around on and real easy to throw around. The rear suspension is way too soft (if your over 200 lbs) and the track is only 14" wide. They do dig a big hole when stuck, and aren't very easy to get out. I was impressed by it as a boondocker, then I rode an Apex.. That is one bad machine.

I wouldn't say too bad for Yamaha,I think they have something good going in the Phazer,it has it's place and it sounds like it's not in the mountains, but playing with it on trails or jumping stuff it must be good, basically a good young adult toy. I had my doubts with it as a mountain sled too. I think Yamaha can do some good stuff with the suspension basically on the bigger sleds now after having the Phazer.

what we all have to realize also is that it is a small 4STROKE, it is supposed to be comperable to a 700 2 stroke. It was not meant to compete with the big dogs, but think back, what phazer ever was? It has smaller horse but you can't compare 4 to 2 stroke in horse, apples and oranges. They arent a huge power house, their displacement is in the 500 range, so actually it's pretty impressive for weight and track under it. I have a 99 skidoo summitx 670 136 x 2" and out climbed the phazer every time by a longshot. But to be fair my little sled has outclimbed alot of big dogs. Apex man is right, it has it's place. I am a huge yamaha fan, and I think it's great they finally decided to start really going strong in the snowmobile field again. I say for all those knocking Yamaha's 4strokes, try comparing them to any other 4str in the market, you can't because there is nothing out there that even comes remotely close. Yamaha just won some big snowcross race, the first 4 stroke ever to win and all the rest of the pack were 2strokes.

I have not tryed one yet but i really do like the phazers full stop. They do need a certain someone to ride them they are not for everyone. No they are no hill climbers or lake runners but on tight twisty bumpy trails the phazer GT would give plenty of other equipment a run for it's money with twice the power of the little 4 stroke. I read an article some where about a dealer which took the mountain sled where he did not think it would make it and it surprised him. They are what they are but also remember this is the 1st year with which they have redisgned them and brought them back i think a lot of the power issues will be addressed.

I agree, that for a jumper and trail ripper it's probably good. I thought we were talking about the Mountain addition, which is why the thread started really. It's just hard I would think to depend on a small 500 4 stroke to turn that much track. Would I say that would keep up with 700 2 strokes? I doubt it, but hey throw it up against a mountain max and let's see what it can do. Either way I'm all for Yamaha, and I guess I'd have to ride it to make an honest opinion.

we rented a phazer on our last trip to the u.p. due to one of our sleds burning up, but i rode it for a while. the back suspension is very soft, it bottomed out over like a 2ft bump, and was pretty heavy, i got it stuck and it was pretty hard to get un-stuck.

To add another sled in the mix tonight I powder rode with a freestyle 550fan with a 136 and I was surprised on how well it climbed with an 1 1/4". It did farely well for a small sled. It was light and easy to get unstuck. It seemed to fish tail a lot on the trail but the guy I was riding with was about 175lbs. But other than that, I was impressed.
