Question about 06 M7
So i just put 200 dollars down to buy a demo m7. I am getting it for 6000 bucks from the local dealer with a one year warranty. Its a 153 track and seems to be in good shape with around 300 miles. Does this sound like a good deal to you guys and do you like these sleds? What modifications should i put on it first to make er work better, i.e. handling and horsepower.
Thanks,
Matt

You sound like this will be your 1st year riding? You might of done ok for a first time sled owner. I could of bought a brand new in feb for 6500, but passed because of no reverse. The M7 is a deep snow machine and needs soft powder for cooling and keeping the track lubercated. Don't just stick to the hard pack, make sure you break off into the soft stuff a few times ever mile for at least a 100 feet. For mods I would just ride it the way it is to find out what kind of riding you enjoy best. I found out I hated the trail and now I can't live with out good skis and the anti-ratchet to keep the track from slipping. I don't know where you live but if you want to get off the trail you did good and don't worry about putting it on it's side or a scratch from the trees, just don't get hurt. The M7 has a lot of power for climbing and boon docking in the trees. Make sure you have a back pack to carry a shovel and saw. Don't put them under the hood in case the sled goes upside down, never ride alone, and stay within your limits. When I first got into riding I found out the sled could do it, but not me.

Thats not a bad pick at all. M7s are sweet sleds. Although it wouldn't be my recommendation for a first time sledder, it's always nice to make your mistakes with a cheaper sled. But if you ride with some experienced riders who will take the time to teach you a few things rather than get annoyed if you don't keep up, you should be ok. Just don't try to do too much right out of the box. ztrain has got the idea. Snowmobiles don't really handle like anything else, and they handle differently depending on the snow conditions, so take it easy. I'm sure we could all sit around and tell stories about guys who bought hot-rod sleds for thier first season of riding and ended up with a beat up sled and a few hospital bills.

You got that right, I could tell stories from first hand experience of rescues of novices who got into trouble from trying to ride beyond their abilities with over powering sleds and speed.

Thanks for the advice, it sounds like i got a pretty good sled. I will be riding with very experienced riders who are very nice and will teach me some. After reading some of the things on here, I was looking for a pack and shovel today. I also plan on taking an avalanche class to learn about that too. I will primarily be riding off the trail, I live outside of Vail, and will be riding in the national forest.

The school is notorious for loose girls..ahh ****..my sister goes to that school. i went to the up valley school so i didnt know to many people from that school, and then my parents moved down valley, if you get the idea of it. I have heard most people say that she was definitly lieing, but who knows.

Or using a $10 shovel to dig the thing out after every 10 minutes of riding.
