Ok thanks for the advice. What do you think i should do for power. I mean should i have twin pipes and a clutch kit? Yeah alot of people i talk to says its mostly the rider but if you dont have a sled that can get threw the powder your in trouble. I mean what are some things that would give it more horse?

I don't know how to add power to your sled, but you should also be concered about a longer track and paddles for deep snow. A short track with many horses will just dig in easier causing you to get stuck out of the gate, unless you can get a run at it on hard pack and don't stop. How long is the track now and how much horse power does your sled have now? And some of the locals you have talked too, what do the ride and what kind of riding do you want to do, climb steep mountain slops or stay in the flat off the trails? If you don't know just keep the sled the way it is and go from there on your experiances and then spend the time and money. That is what I did.

Might be too small

If the the snow is fresh and deep with no cut marks, your sled will be too small for the slopes. Even with the money you would spend on the modifications.

Thumbs up 151 inch 16 wide track

When the dealers get the new sleds you should look at those ski-doo summits. They look like a tank, they hit the mountain like a tank, but handle like a sports car. I might sound like a sales man but I am just the weekend rider. I have a much better time on the mountain now because I can go in the places I wish I could go with my old sled. Not talking about avalanch areas! You might know this, but in deep snow always do a little counter steer before you turn. This will get you leaning in the correct direction!

well you dont have to go all out and buy the what is it? highmark x package? i noticed the summits have a huge line of variations in suspension, engine, and track lengths.

it would probably be easier just to buy one of them instead of modifying the 500. the 500 is a great sled though, i love mine.

Who said this hobby is cheap? Not like I am talking about nitro, turbo's, and who knows what else a rider could do. Just giving friendly advice that I know I would not be happy in the outcome spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on modifications when a sled is not really made for what a peson wants to do.

It did real well for me this year with all the fresh snow we had this year. I am still in depression with the arrival of spring and it will take the sighting of a bikini on the beach to get the mind off winter!
