brakes!

my 198? yamaha's brakes don't work, you pull down on the lever and it goes all the way to the handle without much resistance, im new to sledin so i dont know much. They're not hydraulic, the pads r nice and thick. When i spin the track and pull on the brakes u can hear them grip on the rotor sorta. I'm guessing they need to be adjusted, can anybody tell me how? or link a site that tells you how?

There should be an adjuster on the brake mechanism where the pads are. It'susually a round thing with teeth around it, you turn it in to make it tighter. Anyone else?
