98 Formula 500 Suspension

On my Formula 500 I have have only had it a year however I am not very pleased with the rear suspension. The guy that owned it before me weighed about 350lbs and I am curious if because of this the springs are worn out or I may need a new shock. Can any on tell me how I can check these to tell what is needing replacing. When I get off the ski the seat only rebounds about an inch. If grab the rear grab bar I can put the sled up about 3-4 more inches. Now to mee it seems that the sled should rebound to the top once all the weight has been removed. Is this true? The sled runs very good and seems like the ride is not bad but I think I am not getting the performance out the rear I should be getting. Reccomendations? Springs?? Shock?? Specs?? Anyone else have something to compare or mods they have done. I ride enduro dirk in the summer and when I get on a sled I am not looking for the flat trails I like getting a little hard core .. Thanks and I'll welcome anyone who want to yak about it..

Andy

sounds as if the pivot points are binding, you may need a new shock, the best way to tell is to unhook one end and see if it moves in and out very easy or hard, not just dampened.

I would pull the suspension and givew it a thurough serviceing, grease all the fittings, check the bearings and hy-fax and clean the pivots. This should solve the problem.

yeah, try all the basic maintenance(sp) stuff first, before spending money, to see where that gets you.

i have a 97 formula deluxe 500, and love the sled. the suspension needed some adjusting, because it was really stiff. now, it rides good, and has good power. (fun sled to bore out and do little performance work to, by the way )
