Unhappy New Xpeed Helmit

Hello, I recently purchased a Xpeed Xtech snowmobile helmit. I then bought a heated sheild to go along with it. I hooked everything up right and tested voltage. At idle my voltage is around 9V AC. I used the sheild during a storm and it seams that the snow would not melt. I dont know if the whole sheild has to be covered in order for it to complete the circuit and heat up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heated shields do not need to be covered to operate. That silver strip around the perimiter is the heating coil, and their primary purpose is to keep the lense fog free! You should be getting 12ish volts of DC at the lense!

Volts are too low. What did you hook the wire to?

You will only get DC volts if you have a battery, otherwise you should be measuring AC voltage, both my Polaris sleds read nothing with the meter on DC, called the dealer, he told me that unless you have electric start or other system requiring a battery, the shield will be fed AC voltage off the regulator. SEG is right, that voltage sounds a bit low to work on the shield, make sure your ground is solid and clean.

He said he is getting 9V AC at idle.................need to see what you're getting off idle & above....I'm sure you will see much more!! It only makes sense..........you are not riding trails at idle speed!! Think about how your headlights dim at idle, then brighten up when you goose it!! Same will happen with the other circuits!!
