4th Annual SF.com MI Members Ride
Since we just successfully completed the 3rd Annual, it's never too soon to start planning for next year. I know our contingency from Illinois is pressing for a UP trip, but let's hear some ideas!!

The trails in IR were great. Same trails wouldn't bother me.

I know I wasn't able to ride the last 2 times, but I think a ride in the UP is overdue. we could make a day ride from St. Ignace to the Soo, or something along those lines. I know it's pretty costly to have a sled hauled across the bridge by the bridge authority if you didn't trailer yourself. I think it's about $25 per sled for bridge fare. I agree with IRS that wew should keep it around Presients w/e. It tends to like to rain in January.

You know we could do the Up even in Dec! And the the lower a few weeks later! But I vote for the Gaylord area, they seemed to have more snow when we were there!
So what about a WI ride like next week or the week after or even the UP?

if you plan on going to grand marais, me and my brother would probably consider going and we would most likely have a local who knows the good powder fields there

I've done most of my riding in the Gaylord area. I still think the IR trails were better than in Gaylord. Less traffic also.

IR usually has much smoother trails than Gaylord, atleast that was what my experiences were

If you head to the UP i suggest stayin in Newberry and riding from there you can access trails to every which way including grand marais, paradise, st. ignace, the SOO, trout lake, and even munising! But the best way to go is to get there on a friday and enjoy the trails on the weekdays when they are amazing! You should head up the week after presidents to they tend to come random storms after presidents day, at least thats coming from me where im up in newberry every other weekend

My reservations for next years Newberry trip is Feb 6th - 14th. That would be perfect timing for me. They seemed to have a lot more snow at that time too.It would be great to ride with you guys. And I agree with Pouderhound......From Newberry you have access to any trail or destination tou want.
