Tip-Up-Town USA

Anyone headed to tip up town this weekend in Houghton Lake? I plan to go on Saturday to finally get some mileage on my F7. I hear that they have about 4-6 inches of good ice and with the weather the way it is they should be getting more. I have heard anywhere from 4-8 inches of snow on top of the ice as well. Ought to be good enough to make some hot laps around the lake anyways.

Haven't had that much of a deep freeze for the ice, and that snow can insulate it. WATCH OUT! Can't be like the tip up town's from in the past. Heck, might just sit in the Limber Lost Bar and suck a few cold one's down.

I'll be in the Kalkaska area this weekend, so we may ride on down to Houghton Lake and grab some grub. I've heard that's quite the ride though. The JD might not make it that far.

They have some aerial views of the ice on the Houghton Lake website. They said there have been snowmobiles out on the ice, but not venturing too far from shore. Definately won't be motorhomes on the ice this year. They cancelled all of the snowmobile and motorcycle racing and the demo rides as well, at least for the first weekend. I guess as long as you don't let off the gas unless you are on land you will be alright.

I will be there tonight and tomorrow. Tha cabin we're staying at is about 300 yards from the Limber Lost. I don't know if we will be able to get up in the morning. Oh well. If they get the snow they are predicting, we are probably going to hit the trails and shoot up to Grayling and towards Gaylord.
