I have heard rumors of snow up towards the grand marais area in the arrow head. but when i check for info to confirm whether or not there actually is snow the sites are not updated yet. anyone else heard this or have any idea if it is true. i heard about 5-6 inches yesterday and another 1-2 possible tonight. anyone know anything?

Here, I check this http://www.rap.ucar.edu/weather/surface/snowAFus.gif site out pretty often, takes a day or 2 to update because the depth is computed by satellites but nonetheless a great tool. The depths are in centimeters so dont get too excited with big numbers, lol.

we got a good foot of this stuff! I'm almost done breaking in my sled from last year's rebuild. Who else got a chance to hit the trails or at least ride?

Good for you, and for as old as my sled is, i bet it has even less miles than yours. beat 1800 and its a 1980.

I live in Ely, and I have put abou t250 miles on in the last 3 days. Unfortunatly its been raining for the last 4 hours and its supposed to get up to 40 today. I rode the lakes last night and hit alot of slush already. It will be worse after today.

Might have to start looking south for good snow, with all storms tracking down by Iowa. I put 112 miles on ditch banging yesterday, went from Winthrop to Gaylord, then to Nicollet,Henderson,Green Isle, then past New Auburn and back to Winthrop, some spots were a little packed down and crappy, but some of the side road ditches were untouched, and pretty nice, deep powder and lots of field approaches to jump.Rode with a guy from work on his 600 Edge X, his buddy on a 900 Fusion, and my "little" 500 XC. There was a spot by Green Isle where the trail cuts across open farm land, the guy on the 900 took off, he hit 106 before slowing, I was just over 90, and the 600 came up fast behind me doing 95,for my first ride of the season, it was a blast,a lot more work than trail riding, but it helps keep you warm when it is in the single digits !! Just a few miles from home, the Fusion broke the top of the spindle where the a arm hooks up, but this guy drove like a maniac, going almost vertical off field approaches, creek edges, and ditch tops, that 900 could really lift the front end with just a tap on the throttle. He still drove 50 mph with a folded ski on front across a field to his house !! Still, a great time, and less than 50 miles from my house !! I guess you don't always need trails to have fun.

stimpy where your located at ???

i rode on saturday, with buddy he came down to my place in montgomery, and we hit the ditches over to le center, hoped on the trail, rode the trail to cleveland, all packed down, got off trail, banged the ditches, for a while nice snow ,great drifts, we were going to ride to mankato, but i broke a drive chain along 22 just north of mankato about ten miles it sucked
ohh well it happens, it was better than sitting in the house

We don't have our sleds registered in MN yet, so I'm hoping it pulls into Western WI enough to make a day trip out of it!!

why not just pay the 20 bucks or what ever and go here? it's got to cost you close to that to drive to wis. and back.
