Michiagn Tral Permit Fees
In the Michigan Snowmobiling News put out by the Michigan Snowmobiling Association (MSA), the MSA is recommending that trail permit fees be increase to $40 for the 07/08 riding season and $50 for the 08/09 season. Fees for the 06/07 are $25. I am not against an increase that is justified but to double the fees in two years seems excessive. Please read the article and send comments to MSA. I tried to find the article posted on their web site but I did not see it.

I'll have to read it later to find out why there's an increase. Hope it's for good cause!

Yep I read that in my MSA mag the other day. I think $40 is alittle extreme though. If our governor kept her greasey dick beaters out of it when she first got elected, we wouldn't be seeing this potential increase.

i wouldnt mind the increased cost...just something else to pay for. gotta pay to play.
i think the way msa handles the trail system it would be justified. imo they do a good job. so id pay either way.
one other thing to look at is the money that was allocated to extending the trail system in IR. evidently they had money but it was to be used by a certain time. and someone in lansing dicked the dog and forgot to do something. i remember reading it on their webpage. anyway, that could have an effect on the prices...or it could have something to do w/ the white pine trail reconstruction. evidently they have someone (meijers) who donated some money to rename the trail. however the money he dontated is not enought to re asphalt the 94 mile strech of trail. the added cost might go to this too.
anyway, im sure if you read msa's website you can find reasons why they need the extra cash.

They've doubled it before.....from $10 to $20 , then 2 years later to $25.00.
The ORV went from $10 to $12.50 for multiple years and then its been $16.50 for many years. At least those are reasonable jumps. They are also for the same trails, and they do alot of work in the summer on them. The Sled money sure isn't for grooming snow as we haven't had enough in 2 years so there should be a surplus. But there never is... where did it go ? Iosco county bought a $200K tractor ( not even for trail grooming ) for their parks system with money from the trail stickers.
These stickers are a sore subject with me .....Can you tell.
