Brainerd, Northern MN snow riding?

Any good reports on the Brainerd,MN area, or any thing up North? Got a couple of weekends off coming up,and I'd like to get some trail miles on, ditches and cornfields are only fun for so long, and listening to a 15yr. old whining about it ain't no fun either !!! I would also like to know how the conditions on the North Shore are shaping up,will probably head up there for Spring Break week, last year we had a lot of fun, lots of snow and great weather. But any spots with lots of trail miles, let me know, I didn't put an M10 and new shocks on my sled to make it look nice sitting under a cover !!

The trails are ok. If you go to mille lacs the lake riding is great. Can run as fast as you want pretty much the whole time. There's ice roads to jump too if you wanted. The trails around isle are pretty decent too. Have fun!

Just an update for anyone interested, on another post, Cobra stated that the Duluth area had fresh snow, with 4-5 foot drifts in open areas, and the news this morning said a new storm front may dump 6 - 8" more by this weekend, looks like some good Great Lakes riding for a while yet !!!Can't wait for Spring Break,me and my son are going up for a week of riding.

Around TRF we still have snow, but it is the snow with the ice on top, or it is the sticky crap..it works I guess.

Well, the North Shore is a bust for decent riding, we went up to Silver Bay on Monday, the 20th, had to ride through mud from the hotel parking lot and lots of spots in town to get to the woods, then found the trails near town so melted and iced over there was almost nothing for the slides and heat exchangers, both sleds started to run hot, and found some guys that had tried going farther out, and had to stop every mile or so and kick snow on the tracks to cool them off, one guy even melted his slides to his track. We went back to the hotel, cleaned up the sleds, and spent the rest of the day at the hotel planning other ways to find snow. The next day, we took off early, trailered the sleds into the woods to a trail head, seemed ok, but only a few miles down the packed, icy trails, and the sleds were again running hot from lack of loose snow, and my son looked at me and said, " Lets just go home, this sucks" That pretty muched summed it up, and we were both looking forward to this trip for so long, last year it was perfect riding, what a difference a year makes !! Maybe going farther north would have been the ticket, but we had limited time and money for extending our trip, so we just wrapped it up for the season, barely got enough ride time this year to burn up a couple tanks of gas, what a poor riding season !! Central Minnesota just isn't getting the snow it used to, getting real frustrated over the last couple of years with only a few good riding weekends the whole winter.

looks like 50s all through next week too. Winter isn't coming any time soon. Looks like winter may be a thing of the past in minnesota.
