Here's the garage, it's not too big, just about 19x30 with a 4x5 additional area.

Thanks for the compliments. How fast does it go? I have a friend making me an alluminum speedo housing which is not finished yet so I couldn't tell you a top speed for sure without a speedo, but I've probably had it over 80 mph. The trans is geared for off road and climbing, so it accelerates pretty quick and climbs and goes through just about anything. Lots of fun, and very good on gas to.

I found it on ebay early last summer and watched the auction till it ended with noone meeting the reserve, so then I emailed the guy and went halfway across MI to look at it and took it home. I've done a few modifications, tuned her up and made a few trips last year to St. Helen and rode some trails. Lots of fun! If you are looking to get one, there's always some on ebay and there is always a bunch on www.dune-buggy.com . I sold my quad and got this because I didn't get enough chances to ride the quad, but with this being street legal if I can't make it up north or to silver lake I can beat the hell out of it around town.
If your looking to get a street legal rail, make sure you check the laws in your state, here in MI it's supposed to titled as an "assembled roadster" or something close to that. Some people try to sell them as street legal with a VW title. Most get away with it, but it means it wasn't inspected by the DMV and it's possible to get into trouble if you get pulled over.

It will go faster, just never had it topped out. It's a VW engine with a big bore kit and some other high perf. goodies and the rail only weighs about 1000 lbs or less, two people can lift the complete engine without a problem (the magnesium alloy engine case (block) alone weighs only 28 lbs) and one person can lift the front. The rail gets about 35 mpg offroad! and 45-50 on the road. It's unbeleivable. I've only got a 6.5 gallon tank on there and it goes forever.
Though once I get my dual carb setup it will go down a bit. But not much.

You will have to get that thing up to Bull Gap in Mio, and see if you can run it up the hill! Are you familiar with Bull Gap?

I may have already been there with the rail. I did all kinds of riding in the St. Helen area last summer and climbed some crazy hills. Since last summer I have upgraded from a single carb to dual carbs, holy freaking crap what a difference. It climbed some steep sand hills before, I don't think it will have any problems now.
