My Mom's Garage
Haha! Hey, I am 25, but I live in an apartment and my single Mom has 4 car garage... I think she can share.
All of the sleds owned between my bro, my gf, and I. Prices behind sled is what we actually paid for them. My english is good, just summed up so you do not have to read a lot of gibberish.
My '80 John Deere Trailfire 440 FC/ES- $FREE, Replaced line in tank, fired up and idles perfect! Only damage, cracked windshield.
My '83 SRV 540 FC- $100- Tree found Sled. Sold so far... approximately $___.00 in parts. (GF is keeping a spreadsheet on snowmobile totals) Thanks Babe!
My '84 SRV 540 FC- $280- Bought it as not running, started right up! LOOKS ALMOST PERFECT Sold for $360.00
Gf '85 Polaris Trail 440 FC- $200.00- Runs and Looks PERFECT
Bro '86 Polaris Trail 488 FC-$200.00- Runs and Looks PERFECT
Bro '93 Polaris EFI SKS 500 LC- $325- Bought it as not running, dug into it, two bad relays (idiot that owned sled before took them apart, see explaining in a few). Had spark, put gas into cylinders and it fired, so not getting fuel. Rigged relay to run fuel pump, not pulling gas. Pulled off lines, blew into it, no bubbles in tank. Pulled line out, was gone. Replace line, rigged up relay, gas, started, and is running. Needs two relays, runs great on idle, if you gas it, bogs down because it's getting too much gas.
My '95 Arctic Cat Jag 440 FC $300.00- Bought as not running, cleaned the carbs, replaced lines, etc. Runs great! Removed decals and it is ALL black except for Arctic Cat on the seat.
Now, if we could only get some snow!

Trailfire - FREE? Wow - nice
I saw one a lot like that a couple years back out on the trails down hrere near Antigo. It was keeping up with all of the newer sleds nicely - right in the middle of the pack.

New additon to the family...
My wallet went into labor and this is what came of it.
I bought this sled for $400.00. I drove approximately 2.25 hours round trip. The guy I bought it from seemed to know very little about snowmobiles. It ran fine, not great, but it ran, everything looked good, and everything worked. The ski's were damaged, but my brother had skis form his Formula MX that fit great with new carbides. (PS: The skis are no longer for sale since I bought them) This was the first time I did not take the sled for a test run on the yard, oops. I drove it onto the trailer, paid the guy, and I was out like a fat kid in dodge ball.
I got home, unloaded the new addition and took it for a spin in my yard. There was this loud skipping, popping feeling, coming from the snowmobile. It had power, and it went like a bat out of hell. Amazing because this sled is heavy as F***. Not one I want to get stuck. Took the chain case apart and adjusted the chain properly. Put it back together and drove it. Same problem. I checked the track and it sags about 1 inch with no weight and maybe inch and a 3/4 with about #15. The problem is the track tensioning bolts are rusted solid so I will need to fix that first. Someone mentioned the belt might be skipping teeth. I took it off and in one part, the belt is barely 1.25" and another area 1 and 5/8". I am hoping it is that. I will know tomorrow when my neighbors will not call the Police on me running the sled at night. Bearings, etc. are great. Anyone else have any ideas? I do have to clean the carbs but it should be a fun, fast, insane sled.

Yeah, a burnt belt will do that. Time for a new one.

It was a belt but now I seem to have either stumbled upon something or it is coincidence. I took it for a test run in the yard and it run great. I stopped, then went to go and the sled did not move. I popped the hood and the secondary is split all of the way open. I pulled the belt up and the secondary went back together. Either it needs rebuilt or it is because the sled is so F*ing heavy that it just doesn't have the power/ clutching to move it on soft grass/dirt. I am hoping it is just that because on the stand, it runs and revs up well, minus the carbs still needing redone.

Take the secondary off and clean it. The bushings in it might be a bit gummy.

I figured out why it did not seem to go... and well, the spark plug wire came out of the housing. I screwed it back on and the sled ran like a champ. I am still having some issues with the secondary but I am putting the sled up for a few weeks until I can get back at it again depending on work.
PS: I love this website! Much more fun than porn ;-)

The Deere, Ski-Doo, and SP500 are now for sale... Student loans are now due and I do not feel like paying them off for the next 10 years when I can get them done in 1.

No problem...I've been getting offers for $900.00 on the Ski-Doo but it really has grown on me. My brother got one too and its older but bored over and he thinks his is faster than mine... Time will only tell when we race!
