I just picked up a 93 Polaris SP500 EFI SKS sled for free from a guy in the town that I work at. He just wanted it gone, I even offered him money. It sat outside for a few years so the hood, windshield, and seat are either damaged or faded. My brother got that SP500 also but we parted it out and he still has the body parts. I put gas in the cylinders and it fired up. I am sooooo excited to go home and work on it. I have no idea what I will have to do once I get into it but its always fun. New gas for sure, probably clean the fuel lines, etc.

I forgot to take pictures... I was climbed right into the project. I will take after pics of the sled and the parts removed. It does not have the top speed that I expected it to have... I am going to try new plugs and maybe seafoam through the gas. I had to clean out the tank which had chunks, very bad smelling gas, and that sticky crap from fuel lines.

Here is a picture of the parts that were on the sled. The chassis is from my brothers sled. I should have taken a picture of the motor. It was like fall in the garage when I swept. There were TONS of leaves, dirt, sticks, etc. Everything had a 1/4 inch of dirt on it. I will take pictures when I take the sled out again, the new looking sled!

Smile

And the after pics... Again, sorry no pics of the dirty motor from before... I won't complain for free. The hood, seat, drivebelt, front bumper I bought from my Bro for $200.00. So far I only have $258.00 into this sled plus tons of hours.

Pictures do not do this sled just!

It idles around 2800 though... which I think is high for an EFI. Is there a way to adjust?

The more I read other peoples threads I think 2800-3000 rpm's is normal for polaris's. But I may be wrong. Mine also idles at 3000 rpm's. It runs like a champ!

I love this sled so far other than the carbides are 8 inchs and the track is not studded so it is hard to keep in a straight line.

The pictures sure do not do the sled just.

Check the ski alignment.Measure between inside of skis and toe out about 1/2".

And the Ski-Doo sold tonight for $725.00. I more so wanted to break even. I had 3 sleds and I am tired of tripping around them all. I am slowly weeding myself down to one.

Kristin and I from this Saturday. These pictures are after the 4 hour drive. We were riding for approx. 4 hours and we got lost. I had to ask for directions. We just went trail to trail and did not keep track. Opps! I added a picture of the new toy. This picture should show up better than the last few.

Ha! Thanks! I am just glad she was smiling after the trip. There were some spots that she did NOT like crossing, etc. This is her first sled and her first winter snowmobiling. I still cannot believe she picked up that sled for $200.00. It is in such perfect shape!
