98' Dakota, rice or nice?

I'm not a big fan usually of lowered trucks, but thats because they're usually hacked. I'm looking at this one. It has 300,000 km's, but the engine has 160,000km's. I'm not really to worried about the km's aslong as the body is in decent shape because I've got a lift, and would much rather do mechanical stuff then body work. Its got the 5.2l 318, which I had in a grand cherokee once and the thing seemed bulletproof. My plans in the winter would be to put a set of steel rims and winter tires on it, and take the drop spindles out and stuff to restore it to stock height. So what do you guys think, rice or nice? I could probably get it for much less then she wants as I live in a rural area and no one wants lowered trucks. Also its been for sale for atleast 2 months.

i think that truck looks good. my buddy had his dakota lowered and it looked sweet. he had the DJM 2/4 lowering kit.

personally, i like lowered trucks, when done tastefully...not mexican-ed out (no offence) with tires/rims that stick out 15" past the fender with a ton of wheel-well gap.

if you're going to return it to stock height, then i wouldnt worry about what it looks like now.because after you get done working on it, it will look somewhat different.

Well I would only return it to stock height only for the winter months so that I don't get stuck all the time. Other then that it would be lowered. I agree with you that they need to have the correct backspacing, but its hard to tell if they rims are right in pictures.

I'd probably just consider it a summer ride. It does look nice though.

Nope, the 5.9 was the only motor you could get in the r/t, but you could get the smaller 5.2l in other dakota's. You could get the 5.2l in 5 speed, if this truck was stick I would buy it for sure!

Like RJ said, I'd keep it as a summer ride.No way I'd change the spindles every spring/fall....

You couldn't give that away here. You would scrape on the asphalt in the summer as well.
