Forum Etiquette - Bad Spelling/Grammar

I'm picking up this subject here, so as not to hijack another member's thread (different subject).......

I realize the younger members use text messaging & IM everyday as a way of communication with friends. With that usage, poor grammar, bad abbreviations and proper spelling are not really frowned upon. But when using message boards such as this, I think it is only right to (at least) try to use complete thoughts, sentences & phrases. What comes along with that, is proper puncuation, grammar & correct spelling. Realize, that in many cases, you are seeking out or dispensing advice; in order to convey useful information, we must first be able to decipher what the writer is asking/stating.

Not trying to be a prig here, just asking members to show a little respect for the readers. Like it or not, you will use written communication in any business applications when you get out in the "Big World", unless you only use oral communication, such as "Do you want that SuperSized??".

Alright, enough of my rant!! I'm ready to be blasted......bad grammar and all!!

Well said IRS. I agree completely however, being one of the forementioned "younger members" it's not really a problem to decipher the bad spelling and grammar.

Each one is a sentence....I know what you mean IRS, especially the run on sentences with NO punctuation at all in them. BUT we have to understand that not all folks have PhD's in grammar such as yourself....

i think that grammer and spelling are needed to an extent. but don't try to go out of your way. i don't want to have to keep a dictionary handy just for a forum. long as you get the message across.

IRS i feel the same way. and that was well put. granted the flaming might begin...atleast your not the only one who has noticed poor grammar on this site. but then again, the younger members are the ones who use it mostly. not trying single anyone out, but its a trend ive noticed too.
