Video editor?

Does anyone know a worth-while to use windows XP video editor? I need to edit just clips from our digicams from ATV runs, camping, stupid things, that kinda junk. I'm not producing the next lord of the rings, just editing clips, maybe sewing them together and adding music. Anyone?

I used windows movie maker when I did my videos. They look crappy because my hardware sucks but the program itself gets the basics done. You should have at least a 2 ghz processor and more than 256k of ram. Thats what I have and the video capture was either choppy or really poor quality. Do you have a video-in on your computer or are you using usb/firewire?

My system should be fine, I'm running 2gb of dual channel ram with a dual core AMD 64bit chip. I have the video clips already, from my digital camera, I just needed a way to edit them, paste them together, or add music, etc. I'll see if the windows one does that, I never thought to try it.

Well I used the windows video editor and learned one lesson. SAVE CONSTANTLY . That program is very unstable, it crashed probably about once or twice every 10mins, which is weird because windows and this machine are very stable, not this program I guess. I stripped together some quick shots from my job (IA fire ranger) and what not, s'alright for a first attempt but the next one will have alot more work put into it now that I know what I'm doing.

When you have the program open, click on the help > moviemaker on the web > It will take you to a tutorial on it's use and then you can find the patches/updates to make it more stable.
