immagration

A lady wrote a great letter in the editorials, which explains things
better than all the stuff you hear on TV.
"Recently, large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact
that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the U.S. might protect its own borders,
might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to
stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these
protests.

Let's say I break into your house.
Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I
leave.
But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the
laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to
do. I'm hardworking and honest (except for when I broke into your house)."
According to the protesters,
not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance
plan, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will
do your yard work, because he too is hardworking and honest, except for that
breaking in part).
If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends,
who will picket your house, carrying signs that proclaim my right to be
there.
It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do,
and I'm just trying to better myself.
I'm hardworking and honest ... um, except for ... well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my
keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of
selfishness, prejudice and being anti-housebreaker.

Did I miss anything?

Does this sound reasonable to you?

If it does, grab a sign and go picket something.
If this sounds insane to you, call your senators and enlighten them,
because they are stumbling in the darkness right now, can't possibly
understand the situation, and really need your help."

Bush also wants to force them to accept and learn English well before citizenship is attained.

I've been saying that for years... If I were to move to a foreign country and become a citizen I wouldn't think twice about learning the language before-hand. Same with learning the customs and all that. You wouldn't walk into a house in a foreign country, sit down at the dinner table, yell "where's the burgers", and expect them to welcome you to the family. You'd be thrown out on your face (rightly so)

i think thats great! not only for mexicans, but for all people who come to this country. personally im tired of seeing everything (atleast in my neck of the woods) written in two languages. its almost like were caitering to their needs, and want to accomodate them. if you come over here, you need to accept our culture, and not think that we will mold our socity around you.

i have a great rush limbaugh video that was emailed to me earlier in the week, and he spoke about mexican immigration, and he brought up good points. pm me your email, and i can send the video to you. the thing is that he actually brings up good points, and im not just saying that b/c i like him, but b/c theyre true.

Great post... I was so ashamed that our gov. Idiot I mean Elliot Spitzer who comes from myhome town wanted to give Illegal Immagrants drivers license. I mean what part of Illegal do people not understand. Whenmy grandparents came here from Italy they had to go through customs and they had to know English, Math, and the history of the US. I still believe in the words writen on the statue of liberty. Bring us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses, but you must play by the rules

We in Canada have the same frustrating problem with immigrants, mostly Asians. We have such a problem in our major cities with Asian Gangs and drugs it's very frightening. Yet we allow them into our country with open arms.
If I work in Canada and pay into a Canada pension plan for my entire career, when I retire from that job, that doesn't have it's own pension plan, the most the Canadian government will pay me per month to live as about $1200. If I immigrate into Canada from another country right off the bat I get about $2500 per month for living expenses. It's very hard to not be Racist sometimes.

Jadded America is similar as far as what you get as you step of the boat / plane. If you come to this Country the correct way and get through immagration they will get you a home and pay your way through schooling. Now that doesn't just mean paying your tuition for school it means paying your way through school, Housing, food, transportation, books. Yet I could never go to college because I can't support my family and go to school at the same time. being an American is great as long as your not American.
