Don't buy Good Year

Town and countries! Sidewall blew out doing about 120km/h down the 400. Happened in the expedition. Somehow my sister (who wegihs 110lbs soaking wet) got it over to the side, and called caa. Luckily it wasn't in the front, or I garantee she would be in the hospital right now, or worse :bs: Good Year is getting sent the original invoice, these pics, and a pic of the odometer showing like less then 10k's on the tires. I'm also posting this on every forum I got to, telling co workers, and going to tell anyone in the future looking for tires!

That's nasty. glad yur sis is ok. I have GY Wranglers RTS's on my truck and had a side blow out also. I was changin the tire, and heard something rattling in it. It was a 10mm open end wrench. I would've loved to have another set of Firestone Wilderness AT's, but that recall put that out of the question. My next set of tires will be Bridgestones. Oh yah. I now use that 10mm wrench in my sled toolkit

We had wilderness t/a's on our old exploder and loved them too. I actually quit my job at a shop once because the owner wanted me to put a plug in that in my opinon and all the other techs opinion was way to close to the firewall. Scary

I also use the All Terrains, love them. My friend works at a Dodge dealership, who just went to Firestones. Reason: You can't find a round Goodyear anywhere....They all bump, need excessive weight, etc. No thanks.

I bought a new set of coopers last year and am really happy with them. First set of brand new tires I've ever bought (for my truck) and they are nice! A bit more expensive than a new set for the minivan.....

FIREWALL!!?? Hope you mean the sidewall
Glad your sister is safe & sound.
Before you go crazy badmouthing GY, were there any circumstances that may have caused the failure.....things like hitting debris in the road, driving with low tire pressure, etc. Usually if there is a puncture & the pressure goes low while driving at high speeds, the sidewalls will fail due to the heat build-up from excessive flex. This failure usually occurs before the driver recognizes it & gets the vehicle to the side of the road.
Just hate to see you jump to conclusions.........

good point irs...never thought of the sidewalls heating up due to excessive flex.

I'll get a pic, just an expedition lol. The only reason I jumped to conclusions is because the tire pressure is checked weekly (it had just towed a load of dirt), I had just removed the tire, cleaned the rim, resealed/install the tire, and balanced them last fall. When the guy from caa came, he checked the road over for debris, and couldn't find any.

Exclamation

From the pics, it's hard to tell why the tire blew out. The most common reason for failure is under-inflation if there was no debris or anything in the tire, that leaves only the low pressure as the cause.

I just didn't read your post correctly. I thought you were saying don't buy ALL Goodyear tires...
