583 motor on blaster ...
I bought a blown up blaster a few weeks ago. I was going to get it rebuilt, but i came up with this idea. My buddy said he'd sell me his skidoo 583 motor out of a mach 1 for 40 bucks. I was going to mount it on the blaster, which i have no problem with. Get some type of radiator and all that. What im having trouble with is the gearing .... how would i do that? Would i still use a chain case ? I've seen this done before and thought maybe i'd see if anyone on this forum, could help me out. Thanks Alot!!

i would make a jackshaft for the secondary, then run a regular chain to the rear wheels from the jackshaft, no chaincase involved. you might have to run the chain to a second jackshaft that is a little lower to keep the secondary clutch up away from rocks and to keep the chain the right tension throughout the suspension travel.
if you do it, GET PICS!!!!

Rebuld the motor. Less headaches. Then you'll be on your way.

Why not build one from scratch? Much more fun that way.

ive heard of peeps putting them in shees for drag racing, but a blaster, thats kinda small to squeeze a big engine into.
but i think u just weld a sprocket to the secondary clutch and pray for the best so u dont burn a belt all the time. sled belts are better when its colder out! as for gearing, i bet u could turn a lot different ratios with 100 horse under ur seat

i think it would be best suited for sand racing or the like. i don't see a problem with the belt, kawasaki and polaris use them a lot, but none of them put out 100+ hp either. you could block off the oil injection and just run premix, it would be easier.

I wish i could just find a cheap sport bike ( crotchrocket ) motor .... It would be soo much easier. I could just rebuild the blaster motor .... but i'd like something custom with alot of torque .... Maybe i will just find a blown up shee. Until then its hopes and dreams lol.

blasters are pretty slow, i guess they are ok when modded. i would much rather have a z400 over one, plenty of tourqe, lots of easy wheelies. blasters don't have reverse either.
