NHL playoffs
well the second season has started, and its been great. the wings have me a bit nervous though but theyll beat edmonton. oilers are playing great though.
and how about jagr? pushing a guy and destroying his shoulder? LMAO i cant stand him! dont ask why, its just him and paul kariya i love seeing get slammed. well kariya because he's a wuss which apparently jagr is too
my preditcion is new jersye and the wings, hopefully the wings wont be swept by them like in 95. hopefully in 7 games with DET with the cup.
and what do you think of the refs now? i liked the "let 'em play" style better, but its still exciting.
any other hockey fans out there? (av's fans dont count unless you liked the quebec nordiques too0 j/k...i still remember the big wings and av's rivalry a few years back.

yeah, they had a great year a few seasons back didnt they? hockey popularity is down which i dont get. ok, if its that you just cant get in to to it fine. but when you say its gay and less than a sport than the big 3 (football, baseball, basketball) youre totally wrong. i say its equal (if not more than equal) of an athletic contest as any sport.
the 2nd season has started and come on this site is mostly michiganders (who have the best hockey team in the league) and canadians (who has the best hockey restaraunt in the world ) and no one else is in to hockey?
TV coverage sucks though

We don't have an NHL team up here which sucks, but the ECHL "Aces" are in the second round of the playoffs vs. vegas! We miss our hometown boy Scottie Gomez but we're doin alright.
And I agree that hockey is just as athletic as anything else.

damn man i wanna go see a wings game so bad! ive been seeing gomez's name a lot recently...
well the wings game is tied 1-1 with like 6 min left in the first. ill be watching it. edmunton has a good system against them, but the wings have so much experience theyll figure it out.
i was bummed when scotty bowman retired. itd be great to have him back. and yzerman will eb leaving, who's been my favorite player for as long as i remember. him, dino ciccerelli, and paul coffey. oh well, his number will eb reitred as well and maybe lidstrom's when that day comes.
and alexander ovechkin is the next gretzky easily.

yeah when i realized it was 3-1 oilers after the 2nd i got a bit worried. hey it went in to double OT so we put up a fight atleast.
i want dallas to iwn their series but i dont htink they will. i love seeing the rangers lose because they have jagr. i'd like to see buffalo win, and i never mind seeing ottawa do well i guess.
but i want to see detroit and new jersey fight for the cup.
and how about people saying detroit should be in the east? then youd have to move columbus over too! nashville maybe even?

Love the comment about Quebec/Colorado fans! I understand completely becuase I grew up a fan of the Hartford Whalers! Sad to see them gone.... Jagr out is killing the Rangers... but they are still a very young team and what they are learning should pay off over the next year or two... hopefully....
I live about 10 minutes from where Mark Mowers of the Wings and Rob Esche of the Flyers grew up and played. Both are very, very mature guys who come home each summer and support their communities. I am glad to see Mowers starting to get some ice time and put some points up here as of late, something like 8 pts in 5 games maybe?
ECHL - out here that was the East Coast Hockey League, we had the Mohawk Valley Comets, born of the Clinton Comets of the great 1950's and 60's...... The coach of the Tampa Bay 'bolts used to coach the Virginia Lancers of that league, I think my mother got tossed from a Comets game for mooning him actually..... ahhh the good old days of minor league hockey, we miss it!!!

hahaha...well our AHL team is gone after this season
i liked the rangers...up untill they had jagr, once he's gone, ill be a fan of them again they seem like a good team and i always liked mark messier.
theres a guy who we always see when we go to the indian's game and he always has a whalers jersey! i didnt wanna see them go either.
then columbus comes in it's good having a team in our state, but every ohio hockey fan is a detroit fan because that was our home team sort of. but we have federov now
if only my school/town had a hockey team. i couldve been good but the nearest town with a good rec league was too big of a drive (but i drive now). i couldnt hang with them now though been like 3 years since ive goaltended...

That was a pretty good game last night, glad the Oilers won. Hope they knock out detroit but it's hard to believe that it will happen. If oilers made it to second round it would most likely be them vs the flames...could you imagine that. That would be the loudest, most intense series ever!
I hope Ottawa comes through in the east. How about Lecalvier trying to fight with Chara...lecalvier must've watched the highlights and thanked god that chara didnt throw that punch while he had him on the ground.
IMO the refs call wayyyyy too many penalties, especially ridiculous ones like hooking where the player barely even touched the other player with his stick. I hope the NHL tells the refs to ease up a bit for next season. But with that said, the game is still awesome and at a very high pace. These playoffs are great so far.
I would say that hockey is more physically demanding than basketball and especially baseball, football is probably more demanding.
I hope winnipeg gets a hockey team again, there's been "talk" about it for a long time. Or even if any city in Canada gets another hockey team would be awesome, there's no attendance problems up here...we live for this stuff lol.

oilers are a very smart team. theyve found a good system against the wings, ill give you that.
i have a bit of a rivalry with ottawa. (my one friend jumped ship and is an ottawa fan now) but they are a strong team. NJ is just playing so well though. brodeur knows how to play in the playoffs, and Elias is one of my favorite non-red wing.
rida, did you see legace's helmet? it has the octopus on it

Watching sports blows. I'd rather watch something like the history channel, discovery channel, opr military channel. Or any movie with tities and killing. Like Dawn of the Dead. You couldn't go wrong with that movie. Those zombies sprint their as$es off all day, they never get tired!

haha, well im too old to play hockey in our street now and theres not really any ice so watching it is the next best thing.
hockey playoffs is, for me, completely different than any other time in sports because of the heart/aggression they are playing with. the games get very fast paced and physical. and i've almost got into three fights this week because of them seriously...
wins tied it up too

Holy Moly!! I just got back from our Caribbean cruise & find out the Wings are down to the Oilers!! WTF!!
I couldn't get ANY hockey news down there....everything is soccer (futbal) & it is all in Spanish!! Geez, that was frustrating. NBA news was fleeting also, unless it was about the F'n Lakers!!
Anyway, glad to be back!! GO WINGS!!
BTW - Magoo, I like the new avatar....hope it stays for a while!!
