Moron Email
I got this in one of those chain emails.
Quote:
Results of New CDC Study
Doctors:
(A) The number of doctors in the US is 700,000
(B) Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000
(C) Accidental deaths per physician is 17.14%
* * Statistics courtesy of the US Dept. of Health &Human Services
Guns:
(A) The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000 (yes that's 80million)
(B) The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
(C) The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.001875%
* * Statistics courtesy of the FBI
So statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, guns don't kill people, doctors do.
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS A DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We should ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand! Out of concern for the public at large, I have withheld statistics on lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention.
|
Seriously, what the ****?
Another thing, in terms of the fact, another way of wording it is; Not Everyone has a gun, and not everyone has a doctor. Goes to show the kind of people that walk amoung us.

I didn't take it offensively and I'm a fair gun enthusiasist (sp?). I like airsoft better though, I'd give up my right to bear arms for the 'state' of Canada. State meaning condition.

Sorry, i really didn't mean to offend anyone. I have no problems with guns or their owners, just the people that use guns in the wrong way. Sorry if i offended anyone, and i'll delete the post if you would like me too.

Somehow that email just didn't come across as meant to be serious.

I took it as sort of a joke, and sort of serious. I bealive that guns are not the problem.... As even the anti-gun "Bowling for Columbine" movie pointed out, there are more guns/person in Canada (and maybe more guns overall??) I'd bet that there are more intentional(sp?) gun-deaths than intentional doctor deaths. In closing, It has to be us good old Americans, not our good old guns that are at the root of our violence problem.
P.S. its nice to see people giving this thread a chance and not complaining about it too much.

i got that same e-mail awhile ago, sent it to one of my best friends who IS a doctor, his reply was.......
"The scary thing is that I beleive the 120,000 number to actually be low. A lot get covered up. In addition, let's not discount the number of "accidents" that may not kill a person, but cause them irreparable harm."

Let's consider what life would be like without the medical profession. There wouldn't be a greedy legalized drug cartel, and the world probably wouldn't be facing a population crisis. On the flip side, life expectancy would probably still be around fifty. People with a simple infection would be likely to die. And now there's things like prosthetic arms that are controlled just like real arms, blind people with implants that make them see. I think the good that has come from the medical profession outweighs the bad. But that's just my opinion.
Perhaps more time should be spent on deaths that can be averted. I heard the statistic that a child dies every three seconds in third world countries. That's 30,000 every day. That's almost 11 million a year.

i will still see my doctor and so will my kids without a second thought
but sence you mentioned the good in the medical profession we can not forget the good and the bad in the gun community
NOW THE INFO I AM TYPING CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEB AND IS ONLY TO BE USED FOR CONFERSATION PURPOSES ONLY
bad
about 90 people per day die as a result of guns this includes homicide suicide and acceidental and more people commit suicide than homicide this totals just under 33,000 deaths in addition to deaths there are 175 injured per day
good
there are millions of jobs in the gun industry
FOOD
and without the firearm AMERICA would not be today or canada england or any country that has progressed beyond the 13th century
so i think every doctor should have a gun the we all will get the best of care haha
this is just confersation material to use in the warming hut once everyone has told all their snowmobile storys and dreams

If someone is cutting open your head or chest with a saw there's bound to be some accidents
