Insurance - What do you do?

Up to this year I have always had comprehensive coverage on my sleds. Now that I have a trailer and haul them around I was told I had to get collision coverage as well in case of an accident. Collision coverage more than doubles my insurance costs. How do you guys insure your sleds? I now pay $423 a year for my Cat (Collision, Comprehensive & Liability of 1 Million) and $377 a year for my Yamaha (Collision, Comprehensive & Liability of 1 Million). I am going to insure my Polaris today with the same coverage. This is with a $500 deductible. What I will do is remove the collision coverage while they are in storage to save a few bucks. In SK we also have to plate our sleds if we wish to drive them on public roads etc. This costs approx $150 each per year. What do you guys do to insure your sleds if you do at all?

Most insurance companies bill sleds yearly, so it doesn't matter if you drop coverage, you have already paid for it. (I know state farm does this at least, most others do)

Other than that, I run liability only. My sleds are way past the age of me caring about full coverage.

Same here...I have pretty high liability coverage on it, in case of an accident and someone getting hurt (including me by an uninsured other operator), but I didn't bother with comprehensive or collision. My policy through Liberty Mutual is $88/yr. How can you beat that? And it's also tied to a lager liability (umbrella) policy as well, for extra coverage.

Maybe to save a little money, drop your Yamaha to just liability given the year and value.... Providing there is a decent difference in the premium.... I would think there would be.... I'm paying $100 for liability on both sleds. Don't know if rates are higher in Canada.... Sled values seem to be........

How can you beat that??? By not having any insurance...

Seriously, $88 seems low, but when you have several sleds to register *and* insure, that adds up to "I can no longer afford to ride" fast! It takes all the fun out of the sport...

I agree, it was a smoking deal. I already have a lot of policies with them, so there is a discount in there, but overall, it was pretty cheap. It jumped to like $239 if I added comprehensive and collision.

I pay my premium monthly. Full coverage would be approx $33.00 per month per sled for me as well.

That's $146/yr. Guy I bought it from said he paid $84/yr. Hate this market variation.

What about trailers? I just added my 2 place snopro clamshell to my auto policy with a $100 deductible for comprehensive and collision for only $17/yr.
